From wine cellars to luxe swimming pools, multi-car garages and beautiful views, owning a dream home with all the trimmings is becoming more of a priority for Canberra buyers.
MARQ Licensed Agent Luke McAuliffe said Canberra’s high-end real estate market was experiencing greater competition, fuelled by a cohort of buyers with FOMO (fear of missing out) on some of the city’s most impressive homes.
“There is great interest in the top end of the market at the moment, especially for unique, special and really standout homes,” Luke said.
“The market is a little softer than usual so some of the cookie cutter homes are taking longer to sell and aren’t in as high demand as the ones that are out-of-the-box.
“Beautiful homes have long been envied and admired by buyers, neighbours and those interested in the property market. When a unique home comes to market, buyers will often become more competitive with their offers for fear of missing out.”
Luke, a specialist in high-end property sales, has more than a decade of experience as a real estate agent in Canberra.
He said the list of attractions for these properties included a large number of bedrooms and bathrooms, a functional floor plan, garaging, a workshop and sometimes space for a hobby area or home gym.
“People looking at these larger homes really do expect a little bit of everything,” he said.
“They want five bedrooms, three bathrooms. For two-storey homes, they want a bedroom and bathroom on the ground floor for when grandma and grandpa come to stay, or a home suited to multi-generational living. Buyers want that versatility of the floor plan.
“With 21 Hendry Place, Nicholls it’s the location that’s winning buyers over. You’re so close to the 18th hole at Gold Creek Country Club, you’re almost in the clubhouse having a schooner,” he said. “You couldn’t get much closer.
“People want that bit of wow-factor and a range of lifestyle inclusions.”
