“From the start, we loved how quiet, safe and leafy this street is. Being able to walk to Ngunnawal Primary, Holy Spirit Primary, St John Paul II College, and the local shops has been so convenient – especially for weekend treats from Ngunnawal Bakery (those pies… yum!). There’s also no shortage of walking paths around the neighbourhood, which we’ve really enjoyed over the years.

We put a lot of love into creating the established gardens at both the front and back of the home. They’ve grown into beautiful, private spaces filled with lawn, flowers and hardy plants, and we even had a veggie patch tucked into the sunniest part of the yard. One of our favourite features is the Japanese Maple out the front, which puts on an amazing show of orange and red every autumn.

The back living area has been a wonderful place to soak up the winter sun, with loads of natural light and warmth, while the tiled floors helped keep the house cool during Canberra’s hotter summer days. Outside, the pergola has been our go-to spot for entertaining – perfect for family barbecues, relaxed catch-ups with friends, and winter nights around the fire pit roasting marshmallows.

Having two separate living areas gave our family great flexibility. We could spread out and enjoy the sunny back living space, or settle into the cosy, carpeted lounge room when we wanted a quieter night in. The separate dining area was ideal for family meals and dinners with friends, away from everyday distractions.

The main bedroom and ensuite at the front of the home felt peaceful and private, with the rest of the living areas and bedrooms set toward the other end of the house. The extra room also gave us plenty of options – it’s been an office, a guest room, a toy room for the kids, and everything in between.

We’ve always taken pride in keeping the home well maintained, from the gardens through to the doors, window screens and fittings, all cared for to a high standard. The exterior has also been freshly painted recently. We truly loved living at 18 Gunyan Place, and it’s a home we’ll always look back on fondly.”
