First homebuyers and families seeking a genuine community vibe are turning to Casey, enticed by a multitude of convenient amenities, recreation and affordable properties.
Once part of the former Gold Creek rural property, part of the suburb was once used for training horses, and is now home to 6500 people – mostly young families.
MARQ Property Licensed Agent Natalie Kokic-Schmidt said one of the most alluring features of Casey was its close proximity to the Gungahlin Town Centre and the range of local amenities on the doorstep.
“A big drawcard is Casey Market Town,” Natalie said. “There’s everything you need there. A lot of people like to do their shopping at Aldi and Supabarn, there’s lots of cafes, a gym, new childcare centre and good parks nearby.
“Families are really drawn to Casey because it has everything in one area.”
Natalie said the master planned Springbank Rise featured the suburb’s premium homes, with more greenery, open space, established trees and walking paths to forge strong connections with nature.
“A lot of people enjoy walking up to One Tree Hill, which is a 10km walk but it’s very popular for people in that part of Gungahlin,” she said.
With a median house price well below Canberra’s median, the suburb is popular with families and first homebuyers, offering a range of houses and townhouses at varied price points.
“Buyers can get in to Casey for as little as $400,000 and some of the higher sales are around the $1.3 to $1.4 million mark,” Natalie said.
“It ranges from first homebuyer stock to second or third home purchase and then there’s the million dollar homes in Casey as well.
“Casey is a really popular suburb. The stock moves quickly and the diversity of stock draws a lot of interest.”
According to realestate.com.au data, Casey has seen particularly significant growth in the unit and apartment market in the past year, climbing almost 5%, while houses have seen a marginal dip of 1.8%.
